It has been refreshing to strip back big loops to discover greater impact through simplicity. In the studio you can add as many as you want without feedback, but then I’ve started to hit boundaries, as I’ve realise that the sound has become too full or too muddy. Beyond a certain point it hasn’t been possible to keep adding layer upon layer of vocals. In the live context the limitations for me have been feedback, when using a loop microphone. The limitations that you have when looping live are surprisingly similar to those I’ve discovered in the studio. More than anything, loop work has effected what I have been doing in the studio. REFLEXIVITY BETWEEN STUDIO WORK AND LIVE LOOPING People tend to sort those out last, but they need to be written into the design right from the beginning. If you’re being polite to the audience, other performers and the person running the night, that’s what you should be aiming for. If you’re serious about using a loop machine in an open mic, you’ve got to get the ergonomics right. The last 4 years have seen me using open mics to win gigs. Having waited so long may be a good thing, there are so many fantastic new loop stations on the market now ! Can’t wait to start experimenting. With so many other people using loop machines these days, it’s time to up my game. My kit has been suited for purpose see below for the last 4 years, but I’ve wanted to experiment, and feel that my looping has stagnated a bit. You can do that on a Line 6 DL4, but not on a Boss RC20. I enjoyed being able to build very short loops, wipe them out and replace them in a split second. I now have a Boss RC 20, which I find a bit restrictive. I started off using a Line 6 Delay Modeller, and loved it. This is also the reason why I attached the mic to the 10 string guitar. I wanted to have all my instruments at hand for a quick switch. I disliked the fact that they’d missed a progression in their loop as a result. Although I’d seen artists putting one instrument down to pick up another to good effect. Joining the Two Guitars Together developed naturally from wanting continuity in a live piece. In the mean time, here’s a vid and a few words This section of the site is still being developed.

But Hannah was brokenhearted at the fact that she couldn’t bear a child. She was unable to bear children and her husband took pity on her, always giving her double portions when it was time for sacrifice. Proverbs 31:30 – Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. She knew that no matter what happened, it was all in the Lord’s hands. However, perhaps the most prominent, was her fear and respect of the Lord and His power. Rachel, even in her struggles, portrayed a Proverbs 31 woman in many ways. She became pregnant and gave birth to a son and said, “God has taken away my disgrace.” She named him Joseph, and said, “May the Lord add to me another son.” Genesis 30:22-24 – Then God remembered Rachel He listened to her and enabled her to conceive. Through all of this, she kept her faith and trusted the Lord to provide in the best way possible. Through having to wait 14 years to marry Jacob and many more years following, with everyone around her bearing children. Rachel was quite patient in many different ways throughout her life. Through many struggles, Rachel is heard by God and bears a son and names him Joseph. However, Rachel ends up being unable to bear children for Jacob. Jacob works another seven years to gain Rachel as his wife. When the time comes, Laban tricks him and gives him Rachel’s older sister, Leah, instead. Laban, father of Rachel and uncle to Jacob, agrees to let Jacob work for him for seven years in trade for Rachel’s hand in marriage. Jacob sees her and falls in love with her. We first come across Rachel when she’s at the well getting water for her father’s sheep. Let’s take a look at nine women in the Bible who trusted God. It can be encouraging to see how virtuous women in the Bible stood strong in the face of adversity. Whether you are looking for an example of how to be a Proverbs 31 woman or to simply learn what the Bible says about virtuous women, these women offer us a look at how God works in the lives of women like you and me. For women, there are a number of virtuous women in the Bible that we can look to for encouragement in our daily walk with Christ. The Bible is full of many virtuous, righteous, and amazing people who are good role models for us as Christians. If medication is required to manage agitation, administering drugs either PO or IV may be perceived as less threatening or traumatic by patients. With this in mind, it is important to know the risks and benefits of various classes of medications frequently used for agitation in the Emergency Department. Certain patient factors were found to increase the odds of an adverse event, including age 65 or older, multiple sedative administrations within 60 minutes, and alcohol intoxication. In one Australian study, 15.9% of patients experienced a sedation related adverse event.5 These were most commonly hypoxia, airway obstruction, QTc prolongation, bradycardia, and hypotension. However, sedation related adverse events are somewhat common. Studies have reported that sedation is given for agitation in 3-20 of every 1000 ED visits. Some patients with agitation will require medication mediated sedation for safety and to facilitate medical evaluation. In the case of pediatric patients, providers should take note whether family members are calming or exacerbating the child’s agitation, and steps can be taken to further involve family or separate as necessary. If these interventions are unsuccessful, a show of force can be utilized with the help of security staff, with a provider-led team when possible. Noise and other distractions should be minimized as much as possible in the busy ED environment, and the patient may be provided with food, blankets, and other comfort items. Verbal de-escalation should first be attempted, including re-orientation and successive attempts at a therapeutic alliance. NON-PHARMOCOLOGIC DE-ESCALATION TECHNIQUESįirst-line interventions for acute agitation should utilize non-medication based techniques to de-escalate the situation. All agitated patients should immediately have a POC glucose performed, and all women of child-bearing age should have a pregnancy test. Though psychiatric illness can be associated with presentation of acute agitation, experts reinforce that new onset agitation in a patient without clear history of psychiatric disease should be presumed to be from a medical etiology until shown otherwise. Agitation needs to be recognized quickly by ED personnel and managed while taking into account likely predisposing factors for each patient as well as co-morbidities. The treatment of agitation in the ED can protect patients and staff from harm as well as allow a medical workup to proceed in order to identify any underlying medical cause. The American Association for Emergency Psychiatry BETA project defines agitation as “an extreme form of arousal that is associated with increased verbal and motor activity.” Patients who are acutely agitated can pose risk to themselves as well as staff. Acute agitation is a common presentation in the Emergency Department, with some studies citing that this accounts for 2.6% of total patient encounters. A new handbag is the perfect accessory. A great way to check a bag's durability is to read what others have to say about it, too. "A lot of times manufacturers, to make it lightweight, will give you lighter-weight features, and the wheels will be tiny," she explains, suggesting to look for a bag with 2-inch wheels since it needs to carry the weight of all your belongings and navigate everything from escalators to cobblestone streets. Brown also advises consumers to consider the wheels. Travel expert Samantha Brown, host of PBS' hit series "Samantha Brown's Places to Love," says she made the switch to hard-sided bags since they won't expand beyond airline carry-on size requirements and they provide additional protection. soft-sided luggage: Deciding whether you'd like a hard- or soft-sided bag is another consideration and largely a personal preference. Also, if you plan to travel with a carry-on bag only, think about your full itinerary: Can you easily purchase items you may need in your destination? Will you be able to do laundry? Will you have to navigate cobblestone streets to reach your hotel? Make sure you have a carry-on bag with sturdy wheels. Will you be traveling around via train? You'll probably prefer something lightweight. Destination: You'll also want to think about transit within your destination. This will save you time (and perhaps money) during both your luggage search and your packing process. You may also want to consider which airlines you typically fly and check their policies to help you decide what carry-on is right for you. or traveling internationally, your carry-on bag size limitations will vary by airline. Airline: Depending on whether you're flying domestically within the U.S."In my most recent trips to Europe, I've packed carry-on-sized, wheeled duffel luggage," says Jeff Wilson, the host of PBS series "Real Rail Adventures." "I like that, on the way home, I can loosen the compression straps to make room for all of the souvenir chocolate." He adds that depending on the types of souvenirs you want to purchase, you might need to check your carry-on bag for the return flight. You'll also want to consider any items you might purchase in your travels. If you aim to pack light and avoid paying for checked luggage, you'll want a carry-on bag that has features such as compression straps, organizational compartments and/or complementary packing cubes you can buy to go with it. Your travel style also includes how much you typically pack. For example, if you tend to dress up for work, you may want luggage with a built-in garment bag, whereas if you're an adventure traveler, a rolling bag may best accommodate your gear. "It makes a big difference whether you need to take dressy clothing like business suits or it's just a trip to the beach where it's a T-shirt and shorts," she says. Charles Smith, a Denver architect, proposed in March 1914 to attach electromagnets to a submarine which would be irresistibly drawn to the wreck's steel hull. However, all fell afoul of practical and technological difficulties, a lack of funding and, in many cases, a lack of understanding of the physical conditions at the wreck site. In later years, numerous proposals were put forward to salvage the Titanic. The high pressure and low temperature of the water would have prevented significant quantities of gas forming during decomposition, preventing the bodies of Titanic victims from rising back to the surface. Whale falls, a phenomenon not discovered until 1987-coincidentally, by the same submersible used for the first crewed expedition to the Titanic the year before -demonstrate that water-filled corpses, in this case cetaceans, can sink to the bottom essentially intact. The company considered dropping dynamite on the wreck to dislodge bodies which would float to the surface, but finally gave up after oceanographers suggested that the extreme pressure would have compressed the bodies into gelatinous lumps. The lack of submarine technology at the time as well as the outbreak of World War I also put off such a project. The project was soon abandoned as impractical as the divers could not even reach a significant fraction of the necessary depth, where the pressure is over 6,000 pounds per square inch (40 megapascals). The families of several wealthy victims of the disaster – the Guggenheims, Astors, and Wideners – formed a consortium and contracted the Merritt and Chapman Derrick and Wrecking Company to raise the Titanic. However, the wreck is too fragile to be raised and is now protected by a UNESCO convention.Ĭlass=notpageimage| Location of the wreck of the Titanic in the North Atlantic.Īlmost immediately after the Titanic sank on 15 April 1912, proposals were advanced to salvage it from its resting place in the North Atlantic Ocean, despite her exact location and condition being unknown. Many schemes have been proposed to raise the Titanic, including filling the wreck with ping-pong balls, injecting it with 180,000 tons of Vaseline, or using half a million tons of liquid nitrogen to encase it in an iceberg that would float to the surface. Controversial salvage operations have recovered thousands of items, which have been conserved and put on public display. The wreck has been the focus of intense interest and has been visited by numerous expeditions. In 1985, the wreck was finally located by a joint French–American expedition led by Jean-Louis Michel of IFREMER and Robert Ballard of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. Numerous expeditions unsuccessfully tried using sonar to map the sea bed in the hope of finding it. The Titanic sank in 1912, when it collided with an iceberg during its maiden voyage. The bodies of the passengers and crew would have also been distributed across the sea bed, but have since been consumed by other organisms. A debris field around the wreck contains hundreds of thousands of items spilled from the ship as she sank. In contrast, the stern is completely ruined. The bow is still recognisable with many preserved interiors, despite deterioration and damage sustained hitting the sea floor. It lies in two main pieces about 2,000 feet (600 m) apart. The wreck of the Titanic lies at a depth of about 12,500 feet (3,800 metres 2,100 fathoms), about 370 nautical miles (690 kilometres) south-southeast of the coast of Newfoundland. Incubators differ from business accelerators in relation to the maturity of the companies they serve: incubators support companies that have just launched and are still refining their products and operational models, whereas accelerators are more likely to focus on companies that are scaling up. In addition to their other benefits, incubators help reduce the cost of launching and operating a startup by 40-50%. Incubators may be funded by the government, supported through membership fees, or provide support in exchange for equity in companies. What is a Business Incubator?īusiness incubators are organizations and programs that give very early stage companies access to mentorship, investors, start-up funding, shared office space, and technical resources to help them get established. In fact, companies nurtured in a business incubator have a survival rate of 87%, much higher than that of unassisted companies. These strategies include taking advantage of resources provided at a local business incubator. What is also clear, though, is that there are strategies that can help make sure your business is one of the successful ones. About 30% of small businesses won’t survive longer than two years, and 50% won’t survive longer than five years, according to a study by Industry Canada. It’s abundantly clear that running a small business can be risky and the ongoing pandemic has only added to that difficulty.
